Humans live on the surface, around the trunk of a towering world-tree, while the Aspales inhabit the Floating Continent on its branches, and the Roots hide gateways to demon-filled dimensions.

That’s the world Aisa grew up in, as one of the Cursed: each night, the animal spirit within her takes control, and will one day prevail. With her mother already lost, and her sister beginning to succumb to the curse sooner than expected, Aisa seizes a perilous deal that could end it.

She travels to the homeland of the Aspales, descendants of those who cursed her lineage, and meets Gabriel, a young man haunted by an emotional magic so powerful it once caused a disaster. As the Aspales face attacks, legendary Scholars reopen an ancient academy to train chosen ones for war.

Torn from everything they know, Aisa and Gabriel must learn to trust each other to survive and break the curse.
